The Government College of Education, Orathanad was established by the Government of Tamilnadu on 27th July 1957. The College was affiliated to Tamilnadu Teachers Education University, Chennai in 2008. This College became a post-graduate institution by starting M.Ed., course in 1980. This College is having 3.115 Hectare land and sufficient infrastructure facilities including more than ten smart classrooms and a good Auditorium.
NCTE recognized this college to conduct 2 year B.Ed course with an intake of two units (100) from the academic year 2015-2016 and one unit (50) for M.Ed Course from the academic year 2016-2017. This College was accredited at “B” Grade by NAAC. (2nd Cyle)
