Government College of Education, Komarapalayam was founded during the year 1955- 56. The M.Ed., Degree Course was started as an evening course during the year 1974 – 1975. The College became a co-education institution during the year 1990 – 1991. The college is affiliated to the Tamil Nadu Teacher Education University, Chennai from 2008 – 2009. This College is accredited by NAAC twice with ‘B’ grade .
