Government College of Education for Women, Coimbatore
The Government College of Education for Women is one of the best Government Institutions in Tamilnadu. This is situated at the heart of the city of Coimbatore. It has been rendering invaluable service to teacher education. For more than half a century this institution has been the hub of academic activity training young teachers and conducting in-service programmes for serving teachers. Students of this college are serving in schools throughout the state.
This college was started in 1956 to cater to the need for young teachers in emerging schools in the state. From 1997 onwards the college has been under the purview of NCTE. The college fulfils the requirements of NCTE and functions with its recognition. M.Ed. (regular Programme) was started in 2009-10 with the recognition of NCTE.
