Shrimati Indira Gandhi College was established in 1984 and affiliated to Bharathidasan University and Nationally Accredited AT ‘A’ Grade by NAAC . It is an unaided college and one of the first two colleges in the state founded exclusively for women.
It was named after the former Indian Prime Minister, whose life-size statue marks the entry to the college.
