Government Arts College for Women is the leading higher education institution for women of Ramanathapuram district of Tamil Nadu, affiliated to Alagappa University, Karaikudi. It was established in 1994  and Accredited with ‘B’ Grade by NAAC.

The college was affiliated to Madurai Kamaraj University till 1994-2007 and from then on, it has been affiliated to Alagappa University, Karaikudi.

This college started with 3 UG courses Commerce, Computer Science and Home Science in the year of 1994 and Electronics in 1995-1996.

Then gradually other UG and PG courses have been introduced to attain a number of 8 UG and 2 PG courses at present. The college has two shifts, forenoon and afternoon to cater to the needs of students.
