Government arts college for women is one of the affiliated College of Mother Teresa Women University , Kodaikanal. It was established in 1998-1999 by Tamilnadu Government as the result of the constant and continuous effort of the former MLA of the Nilakottai constituency Mrs.A.S.Ponnammal. . It was Accredited by NAAC with B.

Presently the college offers 11 Undergraduate, 10 Postgraduate, 5 M.Phil programmes and 5 Ph.D programmes in various disciplines

Campus is now bustling with academic activities. Around 2400 students are studying in various courses. The college with the sincere and responsive faculty and with able, the guidance of the principal is on the path of progress. It develops with leaps and bounds.
