TN Polytechnic Admissions 2024 – Directorate of Technical Education [DOTE] Tamil Nadu has released Admission Notification for Diploma Courses in Various Government Polytechnic Colleges of Tamil Nadu. The Directorate of Technical Education [DOTE] of Tamil Nadu has opened registration for Online Applications for Diploma course admission in 57 Government Polytechnic Colleges in Tamil Nadu. The overall intake for Government Polytechnic Colleges in Tamil Nadu is 19530. It includes 1745 intake in Women Colleges, 985 intake in Sandwich Colleges and 490 intake in Part-Time Colleges.
There are 54 Government Polytechnic Colleges, 03 Government Affiliated Colleges, 04 Women Colleges , 09 Part-Time Colleges and 06 sandwich Colleges.
TN Polytechnic Admissions 2024
Seats in Diploma Courses in the Government Polytechnic Colleges are offered under the following categories
- Seats in Regular Diploma Courses : 100 % seats under merit Quota
- Seats in Sandwich Courses: 50% seats under merit quota and remaining 50% seats under sponsored quota.
Eligibility for the TN Polytechnic Admission 2024 – First Year
Candidates satisfying the following eligibility rules as on 01-08-2024 are alone eligible to apply.
Nativity
- Candidates belonging to Tamil Nadu only will be considered for admission.
- Tamil Nadu Candidates with Schooling in Tamil Nadu from VI Std. onwards need not enclose the Permanent Residence Certificate.
- In case they have passed the VI to X Std or their equivalent Examination from Schools situated outside Tamil Nadu, a copy of “Certificate of Permanent Residence” (to be obtained from Tahsildhar) should be enclosed with the application for considering them as candidates belonging to Tamil Nadu.
- Other State candidates with schooling in Tamil Nadu from VI Std. onwards need not enclose “Certificate of Permanent Residence”. They are eligible for Open Competition only.
Qualifying Examination : A pass in the 10th Standard (SSLC) or any other equivalent qualification.
Age Limit : There is No age limit TN Polytechnic Admission 2024.
MODE OF SELECTION
Regular Diploma Courses
Selection of eligible candidates for the courses in the Polytechnic Colleges and Special Institutions will be made based on the total marks secured in the qualifying examination and the ranking will be done in the order of total marks secured by the candidates in the SSLC / Equivalent examination following communal reservation. In respect of candidates whose maximum marks in the qualifying examination more than 500 as per scheme, the maximum marks shall be reduced to a base of 500 and rank arrived at along with other candidates.
Sandwich Courses
For 50% seats in the Sandwich Diploma Courses the selection will be done based on the total marks secured in the qualifying examination as for the regular courses following merit and communal reservation. For the remaining 50% seats in the Sandwich Diploma Courses the eligible candidates sponsored by the approved industries will be admitted. The list of industries which are participating in the In-plant Training etc., are alone eligible to sponsor candidates. Sandwich courses will extend for a period for 3 & 1/2 year (7 semesters). Candidates admitted to sandwich courses will attend the Institution study as well as In-plant Training in one of the connected industries. These candidates should satisfy the rules relating to eligibility rules prescribed.
Application Fee for the TN Polytechnic Admission 2024
Candidates willing to apply for the ongoing 2024 TN Polytechnic Admissions have to pay the following application fee as per their category:

For Lateral Entry Admissions (Direct Second Year)
Eligibility Criteria
Passed 10+2 examination with Physics / Mathematics / Chemistry / Computer Science / Electronics / Information Technology / Biology / Informatics Practices / Biotechnology / Technical Vocational Subject / Agriculture / Engineering Graphics / Business Studies / Entrepreneurship (Any of the three) (or)
10th +(2 years ITI) shall be eligible for admission to Second year Diploma Course(s) in Any branch of Engineering and Technology.
Age Limit : There is No age limit TN Polytechnic Admission 2024.
Mode of Selection (HSC/ 10 Std.+ 2 years I.T.I.)
Selection of candidates shall be done by ranking of all candidates put together. The candidates are selected on the basis of total marks secured in the +2 Examinations. 10th Std. passed + 2 years I.T.I., are selected on the basis of Total Marks secured in the Qualifying Examinations, up to a maximum of 10% sanctioned intake.

Documents Should be Submitted at the time of Admission in College
The following original certificates should be produced at the time of admission to the Principal.
- Conduct certificate and Transfer Certificate are in original from the Head of the Educational Institution in which the candidate had last studied
- SSLC mark sheet or mark sheet issued by the concerned educational authority for the qualifying examination ; SSLC mark sheet issued by the Head Master of the School, will not be accepted. and
- Original community certificate for ST / SC / SC(A) / MBC & DNC / BC (Others) / BC (Muslims) from prescribed authority.
